WeWork, Bird, Gensler & More: 26th Annual Market Trends Event

AIR CRE is a leading commercial real estate organization. www.aircre.com

Dear AIR CRE member,

I’m eager to kick off 2019 by welcoming members and guests to attend our 26th Annual Market Trends and Forecast at the LA Hotel Downtown on January 23rd.  For decades, brokers have attended this yearly affair to network with fellow industry power players and to learn the latest market insights from some of the leading authorities in CRE. The industry recognizes this highly anticipated annual event as the foremost resource on what’s to come in all sectors of commercial real estate, and this year’s event is shaping up to be our best yet.

L.A. icon Frank Mottek, the voice of business news on KNX1070, will once again be moderating our panel of leading industry experts, touching on everything from innovations in architecture and design to critical legislation changes affecting  commercial real estate, to the impact companies like WeWork and Bird are having on the industry.

As literally billions of dollars are being invested in CRE-specific technology plays, today’s CRE professionals must educate themselves not only on these new technologies, but also on the terminology that comes with it.  Rudimentary words like Office, Industrial and Retail are being replaced with adaptive re-use, live-work-play and dense urban locations.

Data is of course at the crux of the Industry’s evolving landscape, serving as the invisible hand that drives the market via meticulous research from experts like panelist Amber Schiada, Senior Director of Research at JLL.  Amber will discuss how economics, demographics and real estate trends are all factors at play in collecting accurate data CRE professionals depend on to make intelligent decisions on where to place their money.

We are excited to have John Adams, Principal Managing Director of Gensler, address how architecture and design converge with and influence the evolution of the Integrated Experience, Mobility, and Connectivity and Culture using the Hollywood Park development as a real-time, case-study. Kley Sippel, WeWork’s SoCal General Manager, will discuss the fast-growing trend of shared workspace communities, as WeWork has been at the center of the movement that is turning the traditional concept of Office leasing on its head.

We are also honored to have Michael Beckerman, CEO of CREtech, as a panelist to describe his work unifying the worlds of Commercial Real Estate and Technology.  As CRE and Tech continue to merge at an incredible pace, we see visible representations of such innovation around us day-to-day.  One such product is the recent Bird scooter phenomenon, which revolutionized the concept of transportation. Panelist Jason Spradlin, Sr. Manager of Business Development for Bird, will speak about the increased demand for new and unorthodox modes of transportation and how Bird has been a major influencer in developing an alternate mode for last-mile commuting solutions.

Cushman & Wakefield’s Executive Director Kevin Turner will delve into global logistics and its impact on California’s economy. E-commerce is a principal factor driving Industrial’s tremendous growth across the state and redefining the commercial real estate terrain.  Kevin’s expertise on international markets, such as trade relations with China, will inform brokers on how and why large-scale economics impact us locally.

I’m especially glad to welcome back returning panelist Matthew Hargrove, Senior Vice President of Governmental Affairs at California Business Properties, who will once again discuss legislation impacting CRE and what laws brokers must be cognizant of when conducting business.

I look forward to seeing you at the LA Hotel Downtown and I look forward to hearing about the specific ways in which AIR CRE can assist you in achieving the goals you have for your business this year.

In order to encourage brokers who are new to the industry to attend, I invite AIR CRE members who joined our association in the past three years to register at the reduced rate of $89.50 to attend.  If you’d like to take advantage of this offer, please contact Claire Wright-Coleman at 213-687-8777.
